Having spent most of my life in the Charlottesville area, I have witnessed a magnificient transformation from a town built around Thomas Jefferson's University of Virginia, to a small city with all the conveniences while still maintaining the charms of the small town.
The city of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, which surrounds the city, have worked hard to create the "new Charlottesville", the town that has received the honor for both 2004 and 2005 of being "Frommer's" best small town to live in in the United States. With this distinction, growth in inevitable. The world is taking notice what we have known all along, Charlottesville, Virginia is a wonderful place to live!
